Each year, the Czech Heritage Foundation and the Miss Czech/Slovak Iowa Pageant Program proudly continue a cherished tradition by inviting the visiting queens to breakfast to officially kick off this special occasion.

Throughout Houby Day Festival, the queens take part in many beloved activities, including riding in the parade in convertibles, participating in the kolache‑eating contest, and showcasing their talents (Sunday) and pageant accomplishments. Some will also present their family roots tri‑fold displays, which can be viewed in the Grand Hall at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. They also are invited to attend St. Wenceslaus Church on Sunday morning. We encourage all to dress in Kroje throughout the weekend!!

We invite you to meet the queens throughout the weekend—stop to introduce yourself, learn about their heritage, and don’t forget to have your photo taken with them!
